We received a request from the Boldog Gellért Psychiatric Hospital to organize a Therapeutic horticulture training. Twelve members of the hospital staff took part in the program, including nurses, rehabilitation therapists, mental health professionals, a gardener, as well as technical and administrative staff. The hospital’s garden, which has outstanding natural qualities, is currently being redesigned as part of an ongoing project with the active involvement of employees. The aim of the training was to provide practical tools and inspiration for planning therapeutic garden spaces and activities, while also strengthening team cohesion.
Here is feedback from one of the participants:
“Therapeutic horticulture training is an experiential and attitude-shaping learning process that enhances professional knowledge while deepening the connection to nature. Participants discover how a garden can become a space for healing, stress reduction, and community building, and they gain practical tools to implement effective, evidence-based programs in their own institutions. The training is especially valuable for those who wish to support the well-being of hospital patients and staff in a sustainable, people-centered way.”
